Format Deadline

November 2009:
2 Nov |
Format Deadline5:00pm Once students have ensured that their manuscripts are formatted according to the appropriate University guidelines, students must e-mail their manuscripts for “Format Approval” to the Manuscript Clearance Advisor. Student's manuscripts must be submitted as PDF files. Response time will take approximately one week. Students must ensure that their manuscripts are e-mailed by the “Format Approval” deadline in the semester they plan to graduate. No exceptions will be granted. If student's files are too large to send via traditional e-mail, students should see the "Sending Large Files via E-mail" section of the Blackboard ® sites. Additionally, students should review the “Important Dates” for the submission of their manuscript, found on The Graduate School's Blackboard ® sites, under the “Theses, Treatises, Dissertations” submenu. Students should also note that their manuscript does not have to be defended before they send it to the Manuscript Clearance Advisor for review. Instead, it is highly recommended that they submit their manuscript to the Manuscript Clearance Advisor at least four weeks in advance of their defense, as it is required that they do so for their supervisory committee. |

Clearance Deadline5:00pm Final Clearance Submission Deadline The ETD manuscript must be submitted to The Graduate School via a web "Drop Box." Submission instructions for the "Drop Box" will be e-mailed to you after (1) manuscript Format Approval has been granted by the Manuscript Clearance Advisor, and (2) all required forms and documents have been completed in full, and submitted to the Manuscript Clearance Advisor with appropriate and original signatures. Upon submission, the ETD format will be checked on final time. If the manuscript meets University requirements, it will be approved and the student will be cleared for graduation. If formatting errors are found, the student will be notified via e-mail. Additionally, if no errors are found, the student will be informed via e-mail that the "Final Clearance" of his/her manuscript has been approved. Once the student's ETD has been approved, and his/her degree conferred by the Office of the Registrar, the student's ETD will be transmitted to the University Libraries for storage and viewing. Please note that revisions to the student's file cannot be made once the ETD has been approved. After final clearance and graduation, the student and his/her major professor will receive a personalized DVD containing the student's manuscript. The student's DVD will be mailed to the address that the student provided on the Student Information Form. It may take up to three months from the conferral of the student's degree to get the copy of the DVD. |
