Graduate Student Kudos

Dr. Javier Rosado, a 2008 graduate of the PhD program in combined counseling psychology and school psychology, is now on the faculty of the FSU College of Medicine. Javier recently was awarded a grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to further his work with migrant children and families.

Department of Accounting, College of Business - Bruce Davidson presented his second-year paper, "Can a Code of Ethics Improve Management Behavior and Investor Confidence? Some Intuition and Experimental Evidence", at the American Accounting Association annual meetings in New York City this past August. The session was entitled, "Accounting Sampler: Corporate Governance and Earnings Management."

Two Masters’ students at the School of Library and Information Studies of the College of Communication & Information, Amy Coughenour and Barbara Hughey, will be published in a forthcoming “student papers” issue of Documents to the People (DttP), the journal of the American Library Association’s Government Documents Roundtable. The students wrote their papers in Dr. Lorri Mon’s LIS 5661 Government Information class in Spring 2009. They were nominated by Dr. Mon for inclusion in the issue and selected by DttP’s editorial board. Amy Coughenour’s article is entitled “Reparations for Past Mistakes: Atoning for the Internment of Japanese Americans During World War II” and Barbara Hughey’s article is “The American Alien Tort Statute of 1789 and its Evolution as a Forum for International Human Rights Abuses.”

College of Communication and Information graduate student publications - Gross, Melissa, Goldsmith, Annette, and Carruth, Debi. "'Touch is Difficult. Touch is the Revolution.' Urban & Regional Planning student Seth Morgan, a second year master’s student, was the winner of the 2009 American Public Transportation Foundation Florida Public Transportation Association Award. As an FSU/FDOT Transit Fellow Seth interned with Tallahassee’s public transit agency, Star Metro, during the past academic year and then worked with the Denver Regional Transit District during the summer. Seth’s enthusiastic work on behalf of transit was appreciated by his transit peers and this award is recognition of his excellent work in this area. Seth is to receive the award in October at the American Public Transit Association’s annual conference being held this year in Orlando.

Department of History graduate students - Lindsey Churchill, who studies with Professor Robinson Herrera, has written an article scheduled to appear in the November issue of Latin American Perspectives, while Kevin Kokomoor, who studies under Professor Andrew Frank, just had an article accepted by the Journal of Sport History.
