Requirements for a PFF Completion Certificate
While all FSU doctoral students, doctoral graduates, post-doctoral associates, and visiting/adjunct faculty are eligible to participate in PFF events without formal acceptance as a PFF Fellow, those who wish to earn PFF Completion Certificates should complete the following requirements:
Mentoring:
Fellows should submit a Faculty Readiness Development Plan endorsed by faculty member in their home department (see model available on PFF Blackboard site) ; AND should interview at least three faculty members (from at least two institutions) about the development of their own careers.
Portfolio:
Fellows should prepare a portfolio outlining their readiness for faculty work and career objectives, endorsed by a faculty member from their home department or college. This portfolio would ordinarily include at least a statement of research/creativity objectives, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a curriculum vitae. Fellows may choose to prepare and submit their portfolio using the online portfolio system maintained by the Career Center.
World of Universities:
Fellows should complete a discipline-based, for-credit PFF course; AND participate in at least one Partner Site Visit organized by OGS or their academic department,
OR
Fellows should participate in at least two Partner Site Visits organized by OGS or their academic department.
Research Preparation:
Fellows should complete a for-credit course in responsible conduct of research and creativity offered by OGS or an academic department or college; AND at least 5 contact hours of workshops on research agenda preparation, writing, publishing, plagiarism and/or grant applications offered by OGS, CTL, the Center for Professional Development and/or an academic department.
Teaching Preparation:
Fellows should complete an organized course of study (for credit or not for credit) in teaching methods offered by their academic department or college; AND at least 5 contact hours of CTL workshops on instructional technology;
OR
Fellows should complete at least 15 contact hours of CTL workshops on teaching methods, issues, and/or instructional technology.
Career Building:
Fellows should complete a discipline-based, for-credit PFF course; AND attend at least three job interview-related presentations by candidates for faculty positions at FSU or elsewhere;
OR
Fellows should complete at least 5 contact hours of workshops on career development issues and/or the academic job search process offered by OGS, the Career Center and/or an academic department or college; AND attend at least three job interview-related presentations by candidates for faculty positions at FSU or elsewhere.
