At the request of our graduate students in the Arts and Humanities, Dr. Elaine Treharne will lead a "Grant Writing Practicum". You will have the opportunity to devise and write a grant proposal for your research project, and have it peer reviewed, just as you will as future professionals.

Strozier Library basement - Scholars Commons Classroom

Presenter: Dr. Jonathan Grant, History

FSU faculty will explain the timeframe for academic job searches and the steps to take to maximize your job opportunities. Tips will be provided for locating academic openings, applying for positions, developing application materials and preparing for a visit to a college or university. Preparing materials for your seminar or presentation and dressing for the interview will also be discussed. Faculty will describe the types of questions to expect during the interview as well.

Location: Turnbull Conference Center

Presenter: Dr. Daryl Weisman, ACC Teaching Scholar

Employing the principles of Performance Management, this workshop will equip you with strategies for maintaining student civility and addressing incivility. By the end of this interactive session, you will be able to exercise the power of positive reinforcement to obtain the behaviors and results you want in your classroom. Employing actual classroom situations, you will identify opportunities for positive reinforcement and, through exercises and role play, practice the skills of effective classroom management.Presentation followed by lunch and discussion until 1:00pm.
