The Nancy H. Marcus Endowment for Graduate Student Excellence

In memory of Nancy H, Marcus, the Nancy H. Marcus Endowment for Graduate Student Excellence will serve as a lasting tribute to Dr. Marcus’ innovative approach to graduate education. She strongly believed in providing a variety of opportunities to facilitate graduate student success no matter the discipline. The Nancy H. Marcus Endowment for Graduate Student Excellence was created to support graduate student expenses related to their scholarly activities such as travel connected to researching and presenting research results and other expenses related to their degree progress that is not covered by a supervising faculty member’s grant or other funds. Students will be considered for support if they meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled as a Graduate Student of Florida State University
  • An active member of the Fellows Society – active means a member should have attended at least three Fellow Society events. Preference will be given to those who have taken a leadership role in a major Fellows Society event.

Leslie N. Wilson - Delores Auzenne Assistantship 

This assistantship is available for all new or currently enrolled graduate students. Nomination is through the department or college, but competition for these awards is on a university-wide basis. The stipend is a minimum of $5,000 per academic year plus tuition waivers. Assistants also receive an annual health insurance subsidy.

McNair Scholars Fellowship

The McNair Scholars program is a federally funded program that prepares first-generation or underrepresented undergraduate students for doctoral studies. 

This fellowship provides support for up to 5 continuous years for any newly admitted doctoral students, and support for up to 3 continuous years for newly admitted qualifying MFA students. Applicants must have been McNair Scholars at their respective undergraduate institutions to apply.

The Fellowship is $16,000 - $20,000 per calendar year for the years supported by the Graduate School and an assistantship during the other years, and provides the university health insurance subsidy for the individual.

Gubernatorial Fellows

The Florida Gubernatorial Fellows Program provides leadership training to outstanding Florida graduate and undergraduate students interested in public service. Preference will be given to graduate students. By immersing students in key areas of government, including the Executive Office of the Governor and the Governors agencies, students will receive first-hand, on-the-job training as well as valuable high-level experience and insight on government and how it works. Florida State University Fellows also receive an annual health insurance subsidy.

Dissertation Research Grant

The Dissertation Research Grant is an award paid by The Graduate School to assist doctoral students with expenses associated with research necessary to prepare dissertations. Awards will be up to $1,000. The tiers will be determined by the rankings of the review committee. The applicant must complete the online application and submit their CV as well as the major professor's statement form to The Graduate School prior to the deadline.

The Julia Pelot Colket Graduate Student Child Care Assistance Scholarship

The Julia Pelot Colket Graduate Student Child Care Assistance Scholarship was created to provide much needed support for graduate students with children. This scholarship will provide selected recipients with funds to assist with the growing cost of childcare for one or more children to allow the student to pursue their academic endeavors and excel in their chosen program of study. Students will be considered for support if they meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled graduate student who are attending Graduate School at least 10 years after graduating with their undergraduate degree
  • Have a child or children needing childcare while they are in graduate school
  • Have demonstrated a specific need for funding

Henderson Family Fellowship

This fellowship was created to support Florida public school teachers who are pursuing a Masters or Specialist degree. This fellowship will defray the costs of tuition and fees for up to two semesters in an academic year (summer, fall, spring).
