Tuition Waivers and Fees

Tuition Waivers Image

Tuition rates for current students are available through the Student Business Services office. For students receiving tuition waivers it should be noted that these waivers cover the cost of tuition, leaving the cost of student fees (Facility Use, Parking, Building Fee, etc...) the responsibility of the student.

FSU Employees

FSU Employees are eligible for a tuition scholarship that can cover tuition costs for up to 6 hours at FSU for any full time FSU employee in good academic standing. Please visit the Office of Human Resources website for more information.

State Employees

Employees of the State of Florida are eligible to take up to 6 graduate level credit hours per semester on a space available basis. Individuals using the state tuition waiver must be fully admitted degree-seeking or non-degree seeking students. State employees using a tuition waiver must complete the registration process, and submit the tuition waiver to the Office of the University Registrar no later than the fifth day of classes. See the Office of the University Registrar's website for additional information, and to download the State Employee Tuition Waiver Form .

Graduate Assistants (GAs)

Graduate assistant stipend rates must be based on the minimum rate of $23.08 per hour.

So far as they are available, out-of-state tuition and matriculation fee waivers are reserved for full-time, degree-seeking graduate assistants and fellows. Graduate assistant and fellowship stipends are normally subject to federal income tax. All students receiving funding from the University (e.g. Fellowship or Assistantship) will be held to the stipulations put forward by the Council of Graduate Schools resolutions regarding accepting awards.

  • Provisional, special, and part-time students at the graduate level are not eligible for tuition waivers.
  • For questions concerning general tuition waiver information please contact the Graduate School at 850-644-3501.

Military Veterans, Service Members, and Their Dependents

The out-of-state tuition waiver is extended to FSU students physically residing in Florida who are current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces – including honorably discharged veterans, active-duty service members, and members of the Reserve or National Guard – as well as eligible veteran/service-member dependents who are using federal Veterans Affairs educational benefits. The out-of-state tuition waiver is also extended to active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are stationed or reside outside the state of Florida. Additional information on the C.W. “Bill” Young Tuition Waiver Program is available online at veterans.fsu.edu or by emailing the Student Veterans Center at veteran@admin.fsu.edu.

Cancellation Conditions

Waivers are canceled if the student withdraws from the University, drops below the required academic load, or terminates the assistantship. Waivers will not cover any dropped classes. The student will be responsible for any fees assessed.
